Charlotte, North Carolina
I like to go with my hubby when he travels, especially to places I’d like to visit like Charlotte! Here are the highlights for the few days we were there.
It was a work trip so we stayed business casual at the Hilton DoubleTree. It was comfortable and centered in uptown. The only downer, they closed the rooftop pool and guests don’t have access to the roof. They do have a restaurant and coffee bar on site.
I walked from the hotel to enjoy lunch at Roosters. What stood out to me while walking around is that the area in uptown Charlotte is clean and I saw very few homeless. I really appreciated how well kept the area is. Anyway, at Roosters I ordered the steak frites with roasted brussel sprouts and it was delish! The steak was tender and tasted great! The server was friendly!
After lunch I walked over to Lottie’s Cafe for some coffee and a place to finish up my work for the afternoon. I ordered one of their seasonal drinks and it was delicous. The place was busy and they offered outdoor seating on a small patio as well as indoor.
Once Matt finished up with work, we drove to the Southpark area to eat at Little Mamas Italian and OH MY GOSH!!! Y’all! So good! I saw this couple on instagram talking about it…they said they had come back to Charlotte to eat the lasagna, and now I get it. It was fantastic! Matt had the Chicken Parmesan. The waitress told us about their famous mozzarella cheese bar. Yes, good and A LOT of cheese. It’s the type of appetizer that can be shared with 6+ people so #knowbeforeyougo. Same with the meal, as you’d expect, the portions are large so you can totally share.
The next day I walked the 4th Ward and looked at all the historic homes. I found this guide online, a free walking tour that gives the history of the houses. I found it really helpful.
We ventured over to Sea Level for dinner. I had the salmon and Matt enjoyed the clam chowder. The food was good and the ambiance was nice.
We are looking forward to traveling back to Charlotte again! Why not? :)
